Bhubaneswar, 19th Nov 2025:  The Primary Teachers’ Association will launch a movement from 1st December with two demands. The association has decided to undertake the agitation to fulfill the demands of:

1. Upgrading the basic post and providing a grade pay of Rs4,200.

2. Counting the six-year service period from 2001 to 2024 in the original post and granting six notional increments.

The association has warned that if the government does not fulfill the demands by 30th November, primary teachers will stage a protest on the streets from 1st December. The association has also warned that the government will be responsible for any situation arising in the state’s primary schools.

The discussion on this matter was held in the state executive meeting on Sunday at Saraswati Shishu Vidyamandir, Kharabela Nagar, presided over by the association president, Ramlal Patel.

It was noted that since 2001, primary teachers have been serving with low salaries while strengthening the education system, but their demands have been neglected. Primary teachers are implementing various non-academic activities such as government schemes, food security, health awareness, and programs for adolescents. Despite this, the government has not addressed their demands, the association complained.

The meeting was attended by:

  • OPTA Executive President Purnananda Acharya
  • OBTFF President Ajay Kumar Dhalg
  • AOPTA President Sushant Behera
  • OITE General Editor Praveen Kumar Das
  • Level B-A Convenor Subrat Kumar Dhal
  • Ajit Kumar Maharana and other prominent members
