Korukonda, Dec, 11: The Primary Teachers’ Association of Korukonda block, Malkangiri district, submitted a two-point memorandum to the Chief Minister and Minister of Mass Education through Korukonda Block Education Officer Asit Mishri.
The memorandum included two main demands:
1. Upgrade the basic designation of primary teachers and revise their basic salary to ₹35,400 under Level-9.
2. Regularize all contract teachers working since 2001 by counting their tenure as part of permanent service and provide them with the National Increment.
Although the association had submitted these demands multiple times over a period, no action has been taken so far. The association has now decided that if the demands are not fulfilled by December 4, it will initiate an agitation from December 5.

During the memorandum submission, several teachers were present, including Lokanath Sahu, Surendra Kumar Swain, Basant Kumar Raut, Abhimanyu Halba, Tutu Choudhury, Surendra Maharana, Rita Maharana, Kalpataru Nayak, Chittaranjan Maharana, and Manoj Kumar Behera, along with many other teaching staff.
