Shri Sailas Samantaray, Organizational Secretary, Odisha Clerical Association, Koraput

Shri Kishore Chandra Dash, Vice-President, Odisha Clerical Association, Koraput District

They delivered speeches focusing on the key demands and concerns of clerical staff. Due to the organization’s internal decisions and some recent transfers, new office bearers were appointed:

Y. Srinivas Rao as President

Jaidasa Samantaray as Organizational Secretary

Kishore Chandra Dash as Vice-President

These individuals were welcomed and honored with flower bouquets and ceremonial items by the Koraput district branch of the association.

Clerks transferred from other districts to Koraput were also welcomed in the same manner.

Key Demand Highlighted

The association’s primary long-standing demand has been for the entry-level salary of Junior Assistants to be set as per the 6th Pay Commission’s recommendation at a basic pay of ₹4,200/- under the trade pay level, which they’ve been demanding for the past 8 years.

Shri Dash stated that although previous governments only made verbal promises without action, the new government has shown genuine intent toward fulfilling this demand.

He affirmed the association’s full faith in the current government, and emphasized that the government will not discriminate against clerical staff.

He recalled how, during a past protest by the association, the State Minister had acknowledged that this was a just demand not only of the association but of all clerical employees across Odisha. The General Administration Department had also acknowledged that a final decision on this matter would be taken.

Future Course of Action

Reinforcing the point, Shri Dash said that the government’s sincerity was evident, and that the state leadership of the association had already met with the Hon’ble Chief Minister, submitting a formal memorandum requesting the fulfillment of this demand.

The Chief Minister had reportedly responded positively, assuring a discussion with association leaders soon.

In the meeting, it was resolved that the association leadership would continue to engage with the government and advocate strongly until their one and only demand is fulfilled.
