Baipariguda: Shri Srinivas Rao, the owner of Andha Hotel in Baipariguda Sadar Subdivision, narrowly escaped falling victim to cyber fraud due to his presence of mind.

According to reports, yesterday evening, Srinivas Rao, who runs a hotel at Baipariguda main square, received a call from an unknown number. The fraudster, posing as a customer, spoke in Hindi and placed an order for 15 rotis, 2 plates of jeera rice, and 4 plates of chicken curry as a parcel. Later, the fraudster sent a boy to collect the parcel and asked the hotel owner to confirm the total bill amount. When Srinivas Rao informed that the bill was ₹660, the fraudster asked him to share his PhonePe number and a QR code for payment.

Shortly after receiving the QR code, the fraudster called the hotel owner again, claiming that ₹2,000 had been mistakenly sent instead of ₹660, and requested that the excess amount be refunded. To make it seem legitimate, the fraudster even sent a fake payment confirmation message to the hotel owner.

However, the fraudster repeatedly pressured Srinivas Rao to return the excess money, which made him suspicious. He then checked his bank account and found that no payment had been received. Realizing the fraud attempt, he stopped answering the calls from the fraudster.

Thanks to his quick thinking and alertness, Srinivas Rao narrowly escaped falling victim to cyber fraud.
