Nabarangpur: A preparatory meeting for the upcoming International Yoga Day 2025 was held today under the chairmanship of District Collector Dr. Subhankar Mahapatra at the local Mission Shakti conference hall. A tabletop exercise and mock drill meeting was conducted, with tabletop exercises held at the district and block/municipal levels earlier in the day and mock drills scheduled to be conducted tomorrow in all cyclone shelters across the district.

The meeting emphasized being constantly prepared to minimize loss of life and property during sudden natural disasters such as floods and cyclones, and to aim for zero casualty. Key points of discussion included:

Precautionary measures against lightning-related accidents

Immediate response to snake bites

Interdepartmental coordination before and after disasters

Roles of departments like Fire Services, Police, Health, Tehsildar, BDO, R&B, RD, and Education

The District Collector instructed all officials to carry out their responsibilities diligently, ensure proper management of disaster response, and report to authorities immediately after any incident.

A separate meeting was also held under the District Collector’s leadership to prepare for the International Yoga Day – 2025, which will be held on 21st June 2025 at Nua Mandai Padia.

According to District Sports Officer Sameer Patra, around 1,000 participants are expected to attend the Yoga session from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM on the day. All students from schools and colleges, government employees, members of voluntary organizations, intellectuals, media representatives, and interested general public and elected representatives are being encouraged to participate in the event.
