Jeypore, Jan, 17:   A preparatory meeting for the district-level celebration of the 77th Republic Day was held at the Sadbhavana Conference Hall at the Koraput district headquarters.

The meeting was chaired by Koraput District Collector Manoj Satyan Mahajan, during which detailed discussions were held regarding the arrangements for the celebrations. It was decided that prior to Republic Day, various competitions such as speeches, patriotic songs, quizzes, and drawing contests would be organized for school students. It was also resolved that on January 25, all government and private institutions would be decorated with illuminated lights.

On the occasion of Republic Day, a blood donation camp will be organized, and the District Collector appealed to voluntary blood donors to participate. A tree plantation programme will also be conducted.

It was further decided that rehearsal parades would be held from January 22 to January 24. On January 26, at 5:00 a.m., Ramdhun (devotional music) will be played across the town using loudspeakers. At 7:00 a.m., the National Flag will be hoisted at all government and private institutions. The official flag hoisting ceremony by the Chief Guest will take place at 8:30 a.m. at the Police Ground.

During the programme, tableaux showcasing various developmental initiatives of the State Government will be displayed. An exhibition of photographs of freedom fighters will also be organized. Additionally, it was decided to give special display to Koraput district products such as coffee, millets, black cumin, and the traditional Kotpad Mirigan sarees through separate tableaux.

The District Culture Department will organize cultural programmes at the local cultural hall. It was also decided that meat markets will remain closed in Koraput district on the day of the Republic Day celebrations.

Among those present at the meeting were Additional District Collectors Tapan Kumar Nayak and Bhakta Bandhu Janardan Dalai, District Welfare Officer Sunil Kumar Tandi, Koraput Municipality Executive Officer Gyanajit Tripathy, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sanjay Kumar Mandal, along with other district-level officers, city intellectuals, and media representatives.
