Umarkot, March, 11: A meeting was held to plan the traditional Dhodra Mandei / Maa Inglalini Yatra in Bhimaguda Baliyatra area of Nabarangpur district. It was decided that the traditional Dhodra Mandei will start from 14th March and continue until 18th March, taking place in the local Mandei grounds.
During the meeting, a management committee was formed with guidance on how to conduct the Mandei smoothly, involving local villagers in its organization. By consensus, local Sarpanch Mahendra Bhatra was appointed as President, with Deputy President Du Baral Singh, Editor Kedareshwar Pattnayak, and Editor Rakesh Kumar Jena taking on key roles. Treasurers Hemant Kumar Palei and Bansidhar Bhuya were also appointed.
Committee members included prominent local figures from the four corners of Dhodra: Arun Panaka, Subash Panaka, Shatrughna Majhi, Madhav Bhitara, and Hanu Gauntia. Additionally, Priests and key community members such as Tri Nath Pujari, Banamali Mahanti, Surendra Panaka, Sutam Hari Jan, Maheshwar Harijan, Dhansing Mandali, Krishna Gauntia, Surya Chalan, Barun Panaka, Sada Pujari, and Babula Sunani were appointed as executive members.
During this Mandei Yatra, businessmen from neighboring states like Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Mumbai, Rajasthan, and Jharkhand participate in trade. The festival also allows devotees from distant places to meet their relatives and take part in religious celebrations, as well as participate in the divine congregation of the deities.
The meeting was attended by members from all wards, respected community leaders, and villagers. Because a large number of people are expected to attend, the Umarkot Police requested full cooperation from all stakeholders to maintain peace and order throughout the event.
