Nabarangpur:18th Sept 2025: A preparatory meeting was held today at the District Parishad Conference Hall in Nabarangpur under the chairmanship of Hon’ble MP Balabhadra Majhi (Lok Sabha). The meeting was convened in preparation for the upcoming “Swachhata Hi Seva” (Cleanliness is Service) fortnight, to be observed from September 17 to October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti).
The meeting saw the presence of:
- Hon’ble MLA of Nabarangpur Gauri Shankar Majhi
- Hon’ble MLA of Jharigaon Narsingha Bhatra
- District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain
- Additional District Collector Tapan Kumar Khuntia
- Chief Development Officer (Zilla Parishad) Biranchi Narayan Darwan
- Kunj Bihari Das, among others.
Key Highlights & Action Points:
- As per directions from the Central and State Governments, the program aims to transform the initiative into a mass movement to build a clean, green, and healthy future for the next generation.
- The campaign will involve all Panchayats, Blocks, Government Offices, Markets, Hospitals, Banks, Educational Institutions, Businesses, and residential areas across the district.
Special activities planned include:
- Painting competitions for school and college students
- Recognition and felicitation of individuals making notable contributions in agriculture, art, industry, and other fields
- On October 3, special focus on Durga Puja cleanliness drives, single-use plastic-free markets
- On September 25, a campaign titled “One Day, One Hour, One Goal” will see mass participation from the public
- On September 27, cleanliness drives will be conducted at tourist spots
- Clean Village Declarations, Safai Mitra (Sanitation Worker) Camps, and community-level events involving:
- SHGs (Self Help Groups)
- Swachhata Saathis (Cleanliness Volunteers)
- Public representatives
- General public
- There was also a discussion on promoting Open Defecation Free (ODF) status in villages.
District Collector’s Directives:
- The Collector instructed all BDOs (Block Development Officers) to give special emphasis to cleanliness and sanitation campaigns in their respective blocks.
Attendees:
- District-level departmental officers, Executive Officers of urban local bodies, and all BDOs were present. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from the District Collector.
