Malkangiri, 8th Oct 2025: Following the decision of the state government, a preparatory meeting for the upcoming district-level International Senior Citizens Day was held on Saturday at the District Collector’s conference hall. The meeting was chaired by Additional District Collector Bedabara Pradhan, where various discussions took place.
The Senior Citizens Day at the block level will be celebrated on the 10th of this month at the block premises. It has been decided that the program will be jointly organized by Malkangiri block and the block municipal council at the district headquarters in the Malibant Malya hostel premises.
The program will include activities such as registration of senior citizens, legal education and resolution of their issues, health check-ups, inclusion of citizens above 70 years under the Ayushman scheme, awareness about banking services, and music competitions among others.
Officials from the police, banking, and health departments will participate in the event to inform senior citizens about various government initiatives aimed at their welfare.
Among those present at the program were District Social Inclusion Empowerment Officer Nirmal Dharua, Assistant Sub-Divisional Social Officer Rajiv Pujari, Dr. Durgaprasad Prasad Raj, Junior Assistant Animita Ray, retired government employee and Sangha editor Ashok Samal, member Prakash Pattanaik, Dr. Shiva Narayan Patra, and other members.
