Sambalpur: The residents of Sambalpur city’s Farm Road area have opposed the eviction drive against unauthorized encroachments. A meeting organized at Durga Mandap saw participation from residents of Farm Road, Machh Bandh, Cheruapada, and Rohidas Nagar.

Local residents stated that people have been living in this area for many years. The administration has issued a notice asking the residents of Farm Road to vacate their homes and shops within a month, causing widespread concern among the locals. In the first phase, notices have been served to numerous individuals and families living in houses and running shops from the Farm Road Square to the Delhi Mill (Steman Road) Square.

Currently, road widening work from Farm Road to the railway station is also underway. A few days ago, the residents met Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari at the RDC office and submitted a memorandum of demands. As time is running out, the anxiety among the local people continues to grow.

The demand is that if the administration proceeds with demolishing houses and shops, alternative arrangements should be made immediately. People are asking for new houses in place of the demolished ones. In today
