Preparations in Full Swing for Hydropower Project Near Jeypore

Jeypore: A 3-megawatt hydroelectric project is set to be established near the Yellow Bridge in Jeypore. To facilitate the construction of the hydro project, land acquisition is being initiated. Today, teams from three different departments conducted a land survey near the Yellow Bridge. Based on the survey report, the hydro project work will proceed.

The project is proposed to be constructed by a private company on the eastern side of the Yellow Bridge over the Satiguda Dam in Jeypore The company has submitted a proposal to the government for the establishment of the hydro project at that site. The suitability of the location has been assessed through the survey, carried out by officials from the Revenue, Forest, and Energy departments.

Water from the Kolab Reservoir, after being used in turbines for electricity generation, will flow back into the Satiguda Dam. This same water will later be used for irrigation through canals via the head regulator of the Satiguda Dam, ensuring zero wastage, according to the company.

Currently, a joint survey near the Yellow Bridge has identified forest land containing six large Tentauli and Bada Chakunda trees. Around 9.2 acres of land needed for the power plant has been identified by the Revenue Department. Water will be drawn through pipes from the discharge point of the canal near the head regulator of Satiguda Dam to the hydro plant.

Following land acquisition by IDCO (Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation), construction of the Jaypur Hydropower Project will commence. According to Liaison Officer Fakiruddin Khan, the plant will generate 3 megawatts of electricity.
