Preparations in Full Swing for Ashtaprahari Naam Yajna at Raighar

Raighar, 3rd Nov 2025:  Preparations are in full swing for the grand celebration of the Ashtaprahari Naam Yajna, which has been organized for the last 23 years at the Trinath Temple in Raighar block, the headquarters of Nabarangpur district’s sub-division.

According to information from the organizing committee, this year’s religious observance will begin on November 3. The committee will perform a lamp-lighting ceremony in the evening on the day of Panchuka. On November 3, the rituals of Adhivas and Kalash Yatra will be held. From 6 AM on November 4 to 6 AM on November 5, continuous Naam Sankirtan (chanting of the Lord’s name) will take place.

On Tuesday, November 4, there will be arrangements for Prasada (holy feast) for devotees from noon till night, while on Wednesday, November 5, at 9 AM, a Nagara Sankirtan (devotional procession through the town) will be organized.

More than 10 kirtan groups, including several independent kirtan troupes, will take part in this year’s Ashtaprahari Naam Yajna, which is expected to be conducted with great pomp and devotion. The committee members have already united and begun preparations for the grand event.

The town of Raighar, especially the main market area, will be beautifully decorated with light displays and illuminated with the chanting of “Hare Krishna”. A separate organizing committee has been formed for the event.

By unanimous decision, Prafulla Kumar Bhuyan has been appointed President, Gagan Bihari Bahinipati as Vice-President, Bhavani Nayak as Secretary, Ananta Barik as Joint Secretary, and Bijaya Maharana as Treasurer.

The Advisory Committee includes Akshay Das, Purnananda Barik, Ajay Das, Nepal De, Ranjit Panigrahi, Lakshmidhar Mahanti, Ranakara Singh, and Kaulash Maharana.

Among the executive members are Sriharsha Mahapatra, Kiran Pattnayak, Amiya Mahapatra, Bijaya Padhi, Lalit Mohan Nayak, Nirakar Raut, Sanjay Barik, Sukesh Mishra, Monaj Rajput, Sanjay Nayak, Rajesh Singh, Rabi Bahinipati, Pindu Maharana, Bablu Mishra, Ram Singh, and Bapi Kanjilal, along with over a hundred other members.

During the meeting, discussions were also held regarding special arrangements for the final Panchuka rituals of Kartika month, to be organized separately by the committee.
