Nabarangpur, Nov 28:  As part of the preparations for the 2027 Census, a digital lay-out mapping program is being launched today. In this program, villages where pre-test census operations will be conducted are being digitally mapped.

In Nabarangpur district, the 20 villages of Tentulikhunti block, where the census will take place, are being digitally mapped. For this purpose, training was provided by the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India, and now trained personnel are surveying the villages of Tentulikhunti.

It is worth noting that across the state, this program is being conducted as a pilot only in four districts: Cuttack, Bhubaneswar urban area, Nabarangpur, and Mayurbhanj. Supervisors, who have received prior training for the pre-test census, will provide mapping data to the enumerators.

After mapping, the enumerators will use these maps to visit each household and collect detailed information about every family member, the number of houses, which houses are occupied, the availability of toilets, sources of drinking water, dependence for water supply, arrangements for rainwater and daily wastewater disposal, and other relevant information. This data will then be digitally fed into mobile devices.
