Power Department Worker Electrocuted to Death in Dabugaon

Papadahandi, 1st Aug 2025: A power department employee tragically died on Tuesday after being electrocuted while working on an electric pole near Mundaguda Chhak in Ghodakhunta Panchayat, under Dabugaon block of Nabarangpur district.

The deceased has been identified as Rama Bhatra (36) of Borigam village in Dabugaon block. He was working for the Tata Company under the Dabugaon electricity department.

Incident Details:

On Tuesday morning, a fellow worker, Dhanasingh Bhatra, called Rama for some work.

Around 10 AM, Rama went to a field near Mundaguda Chhak, where he climbed an electric pole to carry out maintenance work.

Suddenly, power supply resumed, and Rama was electrocuted while working on the pole.

He fell from the pole and died on the spot.

Local residents working nearby immediately informed the village and his family members.
Upon receiving the news, family members and villagers rushed to the scene and alerted the Dabugaon police.

ASI Gopal Krishna Hal from Dabugaon police station reached the spot and sent the body to Dabugaon Community Health Center.

Later in the afternoon, Rama’s wife, Kamaldei Bhatra, filed a complaint at Dabugaon police station.

Based on the complaint, ASI Chandrashekhar Hajara visited the hospital, seized the body, and conducted a panchanama (inquest). The postmortem is scheduled for Wednesday, according to police sources.

A case of unnatural death (UD) has been registered under Case No. 21/25 at Dabugaon police station.
