Nischintakoili: A review meeting was held in the Sajjancha hall of Nischintakoili Block by Cuttack Sadar MLA Eng. Prakash Chandra Sethy to assess the progress of various developmental programs in different panchayats. The meeting, held on Monday afternoon, was presided over by BDO Bibendu Das, and attended by many sarpanches and samiti members from the 14 panchayats of the Sadar constituency.
However, during the meeting, a sudden power cut caused extreme discomfort due to the sweltering heat inside the hall. The absence of backup from the block office’s generator, which was supposed to be operational during such outages, further fueled the anger and frustration of the elected representatives. Some began shouting and scolding the BDO and other staff members. Interestingly, the MLA remained silent during the chaos.
This situation led to visible discontent among the present representatives. Various officials and staff from different departments of the block were also present at the meeting and briefed the MLA about ongoing development programs in the 14 panchayats.
The MLA particularly emphasized enhancing the work under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) and advised everyone to cooperate more actively. He also instructed the Tahasildar to resolve land-related disputes affecting some projects. Additionally, he advised sarpanches to inform him about pending development projects in their areas and the need for additional grants for their completion.
Among others, Rozy Sethy, Nalinikanta Mahapatra, Additional BDO Ashok Mahanty, along with engineers and other staff, were present at the meeting.
