PM Modi Begins Strategic Four Day Tour of UK and Maldives

New Delhi, 25th July 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on a four-day official visit to the United Kingdom and the Maldives, beginning today.

Ahead of his departure, Modi issued a statement highlighting that India and the UK have developed into comprehensive strategic partners, with bilateral relations having grown significantly in recent years.

He noted that cooperation between the two nations has expanded in the fields of trade, investment, technology, innovation, defence, education, research, healthcare, and public engagement.

During the UK leg of his visit, Modi is scheduled to hold talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, focusing on enhancing economic cooperation, which he said would promote prosperity, growth, and employment opportunities in both countries.

Modi is also expected to meet King Charles III during his stay.

Following the UK visit, the Prime Minister will travel to the Maldives at the invitation of President Mohamed Muizzu, where he will participate in the celebrations marking the 60th Independence Day of the Maldives.

He added that this year also marks 60 years of diplomatic relations between India and the Maldives.
