Pilgrim Bus Accident Leaves Over 30 Injured

 Balasore, 9th Oct 2025: A bus met with an accident near Tarini Chhak, under Simulia police limits on National Highway 16, resulting in injuries to over 30 passengers, some of them seriously.

All the injured were admitted to Simulia Medical Center. The pilgrims were returning to West Bengal after visiting Lord Jagannath in Puri when the accident occurred. It is said that the driver fell asleep at the wheel, leading to the mishap.

According to reports, 65 pilgrims from Boita area under Mohanpur Police Station in West Bengal had travelled to Puri for darshan of Lord Jagannath. While returning, at around 2 AM, the driver allegedly dozed off, causing the bus to climb a road divider and overturn on the highway.

Upon receiving the information, Simulia IIC (Inspector-in-Charge) Shravan Kumar Maharana and his team rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operations. The bus windows were broken to rescue all the trapped passengers.
