Pension Demand Letter Sent to PM and CM Through District Collector

Jeypore, 9th Aug 2025:  Members of the Odisha 662 Category Joint-2 and Joint-3 Grant-in-Aid Private Teachers and Employees’ Association submitted a memorandum of demands addressed to the Prime Minister and Chief Minister through the District Collector.

Their protest was marked by slogans such as:
“YES, WE WANT PENSION”,
“FEWANT PENSION”,
“WE WANT PESSION”,
“Pension is our right”.

The association has put forward three major demands:

1. Pension for retired teachers and employees:Many teachers and staff have retired after over 30 years of dedicated service, but the government has not provided any pension benefits. The demand is that all retired teachers should be immediately brought under a pension scheme.

2. Recognition of service tenure:Proper acknowledgment of their entire service period must be ensured, including financial and welfare benefits due after retirement.

3. Timely promotion and equal pay:The association has also demanded promotion opportunities and implementation of equal pay for equal work, as promised by the state government. However, Block Grant teachers continue to be neglected, receiving no benefits except salary even after 30 years of service.

Due to the absence of any retirement grant or post-retirement support, many retired teachers are struggling under financial stress. The association has urged the government to take immediate and sympathetic action on their demands.
