Patangi: The road in front of the Gangama Temple in Patangi, located near the Andhra-Odisha border in Koraput district, has turned into a death trap, causing significant inconvenience to commuters. During the construction of the new Gangama temple, the front road has become severely damaged with large potholes, making travel extremely difficult for those using motorcycles, buses, and cars.
With the onset of the monsoon, the potholes have filled with water, increasing the risk of accidents, as reported by locals. The road is part of a major inter-state route connecting Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, and sees the daily movement of hundreds of passenger buses, cargo trucks, and trailers.
Many patients from the border areas of these three states travel daily by ambulance and private vehicles to Visakhapatnam for urgent and quality medical care. Since this road is part of the vital National Highway 26, there is a growing demand from the public for immediate repair.
Upon contacting the junior engineer of the National Highway Department, it was informed that the Public Works Department (PWD) is handling the temple construction. As per the directive of the District Collector V. Kirbhubhasan, repairs to the road will begin very soon to restore safe and smooth transportation.
