Nabarangpur: As the summer heat intensifies, the temperature in Nabarangpur has now reached 36°C. People from 10 blocks and 2 urban areas are gathering in the district headquarters, with many arriving by bus.
However, there is no access to drinking water at the private bus stand. The hand pump near the taxi stand has been closed, leaving passengers struggling to find water. The district headquarters’ private bus stand is a major hub, and while a new bus stand is under construction, the old one has been demolished. Currently, the pillars of the new structure remain incomplete, and the design and map have undergone changes, leading to further delays in construction.
Earlier, two hand pumps were available at the bus stand, but now, the one near the taxi stand has been covered up, and the other is releasing muddy water. Additionally, the waiting hall fans are not working properly, and there is no drinking water facility such as a public water kiosk (Jalachhatra).
With the temperature soaring to 36°C, passengers and daily commuters are facing severe hardship due to the lack of drinking water. The public has urged the district and municipal authorities to take immediate action to resolve the issue.
