Koraput, Dec, 19:The state-level folk festival “Parab” in Koraput district will be inaugurated on Thursday, 18th December. For this occasion, the Parab grounds have been newly decorated. The five-day rural fair (Pallishree Mela) will be lively with various activities, including folk dances and cultural programs.

First Day Highlights:

The first day will feature colorful cultural performances, with the main attraction being Umakanth Barik.

District Collector Manol Satyavan Mahajan and SP Rohit Verma have inspected the Parab grounds and made arrangements for everything.

The inaugural ceremony will have Dr. Krushnachandra Mahapatra, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, as the chief guest, who will officially inaugurate the State-Level Tribal Festival.

Performances and Activities:

In the first evening, guests will enjoy performances such as Kalahandi Katapa, Santhali dance, and Jemsa dance.

Guests will also inaugurate Pallishree Mela, Agricultural Fair, Regional Fair, and Handicrafts Exhibition.

Other performances on the first day include:

Duruya dance from Baipariguda,

Odissi dance from Koraput,

Kathinach from Mastiput,

Jai Jagannath Jemsa from Jaipur,

Bindhu dance from Assam,

Jemsa dance from Dangdeula.

The final main attraction of the evening will be Ramakant Barik and associates’ program.

Facilities and Security:

A total of 543 stalls will be set up at the Pallishree Mela.

Visitors can enjoy a wide variety of delicious food.

For security, 37 platoons of police will be deployed.

Traffic arrangements have been made at 8 parking zones, with additional arrangements if needed, as stated by SP Rohit Verma.
