Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay’s Birth Anniversary Observed with Tribute Programs Across the Region

Umerkote, 29th Sept 2025:  The birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, the founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh (the predecessor of the BJP), was celebrated at the BJP office in Umerkote, Nabarangpur district, under the banner of “Seva Pakhwada” (Service Fortnight). He was known for his strong nationalist ideology, organizational skills, vision of “Integral Humanism”, and as a guiding light for inclusive development. He is revered as a worthy son of Mother India.

Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay was a multifaceted personality — an economist, sociologist, historian, and journalist. His writings in publications like Rashtra Dharma, Panchjanya, and Integral Humanism opposed Western lifestyles and governance models. He emphasized strengthening democracy through Indian culture and envisioned a balanced, developed nation rooted in Indian values.

He offered a unique ideological path in Indian politics and economic thinking. His philosophy of “Integral Humanism” places humanity above all — focusing on the individual, family, society, and nation as interconnected. He believed in “Antyodaya” — the idea that national development is only possible when the last person in society is uplifted. His vision is reflected in the current BJP government’s policies.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, many welfare schemes are being implemented, such as:

  • Food distribution,
  • Construction of toilets,
  • PM Awas Yojana (housing for the poor),
  • Insurance schemes like Suraksha Bima and Jeevan Jyoti Bima,
  • These initiatives align with the vision of inclusive development that Pandit Upadhyay propagated.

Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay was born on September 25, 1916, in Chandrabhan village of Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh. He endured hardships from an early age, having lost most of his family members — including his father — by the age of 2.5. Despite this, he remained determined and dedicated his life to the nation. In 1937, he became a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and took on several responsibilities within the organization. On February 11, 1968, he tragically passed away under mysterious circumstances.

The tribute program featured several key guests:

  • Ramesh Chandra Sahu, State Secretary of BJP (Chief Guest),
  • Ashok Kumar Padhi, representative of the Minister,
  • Suresh Acharya, Legislative Assembly Coordinator,
  • Santosh Sharma, Nagar Mandal President,
  • Mandira Nayak, District Women’s General Secretary.

They all paid homage to the memory of Pandit Upadhyay. The program was conducted by Prabhat Kumar Nayak, General Secretary.
