Nabarangpur, Dec, 27: At the inauguration of the paddy mandi organized by the Controlled Market Committee, Nabarangpur, Minister of School and Mass Education, Nityananda Gand, participated and officially launched the paddy procurement operations from farmers in the district. Distinguished guests on the stage included MLA Dabugaon Manohar Randhari, District Collector Dr. Maheswar Jade, Additional District Collector (General) Tapan Kumar Khuntia, and Sub-Collector Prakash Kumar Mishra.
Sub-Collector Prakash Kumar Mishra welcomed everyone and provided information on the district administration’s paddy procurement arrangements. In his address, Minister Nityananda Gand emphasized the Government’s Farmer Prosperity Scheme, assured the payment of paddy at fair rates along with incentive amounts, and instructed the district administration to ensure smooth execution of the procurement process with priority for farmers. MLA Manohar Randhari highlighted the importance of preventing distress sales and providing all necessary facilities to farmers at the mandi. District Collector Dr. Jade stressed maintaining proper arrangements, law and order, and assigning responsibility to officials for smooth procurement operations.
For Kharif 2025-26:
Farmers can sell their produced paddy at 58 designated paddy procurement centers. Out of 52 procurement agencies, 13 are LAMPS, 2 are Water Panchayats, and 37 are women self-help groups, which will collect paddy from farmers weekly or as scheduled.
For this year, the government has fixed the price for paddy:
DQ Class: Rs2,369 per quintal
K Class: Rs972 per quintal
Incentive: Rs731 per quintal
Each mandi will be equipped with potable water, lighting, toilets, weighing machines, tarpaulins, primary medical kits, tables, platforms, and polythene sheets.
This year, 50,919 farmers have registered for paddy sale, and the first-phase target for the district is the procurement of 14,88,000 quintals of paddy.
Officials present at the event included CESCO Debashish Mahanti, DFO CS Sadanand Behera, CDO Sudhir Ranjan Behera, DIPO Manoj Behera, BDO Sunil Khara, DSW Daopadi Kahar, social worker Kunjabihari Das, Kahnucharan Das, farmers’ leaders Jhadeswar Khadanga, Saroj Patra, and Rajendra Tripathy. The program was chaired by Controlled Market Committee Editor Kapilendra Sasmal.
