Over 300 People Join Congress as Jyotilal Banjare Quits BJD

Nuapada, 1st Nov 2025:  With the upcoming by-election in Nuapada, the political landscape continues to shift as several leaders and workers switch parties. Among the notable figures, Jyotilal Banjare of Khariar, a prominent leader from the Dalit community and a well-known face of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), has resigned from the BJD and joined the Congress Party.

Jyotilal, who had previously played a significant role for the BJD during elections, officially joined the Congress, signaling a potential political gain for the party ahead of the by-election.

At a Congress workers’ meeting held today at Debangana Bhavan in Nuapada, State President of the Satnam Samaj Jyotilal Banjare, former Nuapada District President Lalit Chelak, and Ishwar Manhare, along with more than 300 members of the Satnam Samaj community, formally joined the Congress Party.

The Congress leadership extended a warm welcome to all new members, expressing that their inclusion would further strengthen the party in the run-up to the Nuapada by-election.

On this occasion, former Chhattisgarh Cabinet Minister Guru Rudra Kumar, State Congress President Bhakta Das, Garib Sena President Rabindra Mangaraj, and several senior Congress leaders were present and congratulated the new entrants on joining the party.
