Bhubaneswar,18th Oct 2025:  The Odisha State Non-Government Lecturers’ Association (OSNLEA) has demanded grants for teachers and staff appointed in grant-in-aid and non-grant colleges between June 1, 2008, and June 1, 2018. The association began a movement regarding this demand on September 18 last month. After talks with government representatives, the movement was temporarily suspended.

The Higher Education Minister had promised that discussions would take place between October 10 and 20. However, the association has warned in today’s press conference that if no talks occur during this period, they will resume their agitation.

Earlier, a college-level strike had taken place from August 16, but the government did not take any decision. Again, on September 18, a large gathering was held at Lower PMG. Under the leadership of the association’s president, Bishwranjan Das, a hunger strike was also conducted.
