Malkangiri: In a proactive move to prevent road accidents, the Orkel Police under Malkangiri district have undertaken a tree branch trimming operation near the Chitapari-3 bridge on the Balimela–Jeypore main road.

Due to the overgrowth of branches from roadside trees near Bulani, visibility on the road had become extremely poor, making it difficult for drivers to see the road clearly. As a result, road accidents were increasing, with a recent incident involving two bike riders being seriously injured just four days ago.

To curb such accidents, the Orkel Police took necessary steps and, with the permission of the Forest Department, ASI Satadhar Mandal, along with Disaster Response Team member Rukadhar Munda and a few local youths, used tools to trim the overgrown branches on both sides of the road near the Chitapari-3 bridge.

Following this cleaning effort, the road is now fully visible and clear, ensuring safe passage from one end to the other. It is expected that this action will help prevent further accidents in the future.

The initiative by Orkel Police has been welcomed and appreciated by various sections of the community.
