Raighar, 26th July 2025: A tragic road accident claimed the life of an Odisha Auxiliary Police Force (OPAF) jawan, Narottam Gand (45), on Thursday evening. He was serving at the Nabarangpur District Police Headquarters and hailed from Hatbharandi village.
Accident Details:
The accident occurred around 5:30 PM near Kerapara, while Narottam and his elder brother were returning on a motorbike.
Narottam was thrown off the bike and sustained serious head injuries.
Immediate Response:
Local villagers quickly informed the Kundei Police Station.
Inspector-in-Charge Durga Prasad Brahma reached the spot and rushed Narottam in his vehicle to Hatbharandi Community Health Centre in a critical, bleeding condition.
Declared Dead:
Despite efforts, Narottam succumbed to his injuries around 6 PM during treatment.
Aftermath:
His sudden death has cast a shadow of grief across the local community.
Thankfully, his elder brother survived unhurt, according to police sources.
An investigation is underway, and a case has been registered. Narottam’s dedicated service and untimely demise have deeply saddened both his colleagues and residents of the area.
