Chandinish, Nov 28:  A livestock and fisheries fair was organized on Wednesday at the Panabeda Government High School playground in Chandahandi, Nabarangpur district, under the supervision of Bhagabrahma Nayak, the Officer-in-Charge, and Pinki, Assistant Extension Officer. The program was inaugurated by Sumitra Pujari, Block President of Chandahandi.

The event was attended by representatives of Nabarangpur MP Akaku Kali, Jharinga MLA’s representative Shyamsundar Majhi, District Veterinary Officer Radhesyam Laik, District Fisheries Officer Bishnu Mohan Kisan, and other dignitaries.

During the fair, veterinary officers explained to farmers the importance of awareness in livestock management and the various government schemes and subsidies available. These included:

Chief Minister Kamdhenu Scheme

Animal Welfare Scheme

National Livestock Mission

At the block-level program, farmers were briefed about different fish farming methods, loans, and subsidy benefits provided by the government.

Successful farmers were recognized and awarded with certificates and incentive amounts:

Padman Mali from Pujari Guja village – Successful crop farmer

Hemant Dharua – One-acre farmer

Sushil Dandasena – Successful cattle farmer

Samund Majhi – Successful fish farmer

Other awardees included: Ma Vaishnavi S.N.G., Bhubaneswari Pujari, Lakshmi Bagh, Kajendri Dhoba, Bibyalata Nayak, and others for their achievements in agriculture and fisheries.

Additionally, programs for dairy, child nutrition, fish feed, and fodder production were showcased.

However, during the program, local representatives and committee members expressed dissatisfaction regarding invitations to the block-level event. Notable attendees who assisted included: Livestock Inspector Manol Bishoyi, Rohidas Nayak, Kahnu Jagat, Damar Sahu, Geli Panigrahi, Kiran Pati, Bikash Das, Banamali Das, among others.
