Odisha’s New Recruitment Policy: Exam Fee Compulsory Even for Absentees

Bhubaneswar,  17th Sept 2025: Odisha Approves Revised Rules on Exam Fee Payment and Refund

In a move aimed at reducing the number of non-serious candidates applying for government jobs, the Odisha government has revised its exam fee policy for recruitment examinations.

The 2022 exemption rule for exam fees has been cancelled.

From now on, only SC/ST and persons with disabilities (PwD) will continue to receive exemption from exam fees.

All other candidates will have to pay the examination fee regardless of their category.

Under the new policy:

  • If a candidate appears for the recruitment examination, the exam fee will be refunded to them.
  • However, if a candidate applies but does not appear for the exam, the fee will not be refunded.
  • This step is intended to ensure that only serious applicants apply for recruitment exams and that public resources are utilized efficiently.
