Odisha’s Identity Shines Through Its Rich Jagannath Culture

Nabarangpur: The 90th Odisha Day was celebrated by Utkal Parishad at the Trupti Lodge Conference Hall. The event was presided over by Utkal Parishad President Bijay Kumar Choudhury, with social worker Narayan Patra as the chief speaker. He highlighted the heroic tales of Utkal’s brave sons and emphasized that Jagannath culture makes Odisha eternally memorable and revered.

Former Governor’s Award-winning teacher Prabhasini Mohanty, another speaker, stated that Odia language, literature, culture, and traditions have enriched Odisha on the global stage. Chief guest social worker Jagannath Mahapatra remarked that modern Odisha is searching for the ideals of Gopabandhu, Madhusudan, Fakir Mohan, and Upendra Bhanja.

Honored speaker poet Jagadish Chandra Tripathi acknowledged Odisha’s rich literary heritage but also pointed out the influence of Western culture on Odia society. Telefilm director Manoj Kumar Pattnayak urged Utkal Parishad to ensure Odia signboards in all city shops and markets as part of future action plans.

Former Group Education Development Officer Ramesh Takri, attending as an honorary guest, expressed hope that Odisha’s sweet traditions would be preserved for future generations. Senior teacher P. Ravikant Raghuram described Odia as one of the oldest and sweetest languages.

Under the coordination of playwright Jagannath Behera, a poetry recitation festival was organized, featuring prominent poets such as Kanakalata Mahankud, Jahnavi Panda, Hrushikesh Das, satirical poet Durga Pradhan, Harihar Nayak, Sulta Pattnayak, Vishnu Dutta Sethi, romantic poet Devi Prasad Tripathi, Rabindra Pradhan, Debabrata Sahu, Prafulla Puhan, Subash Bishoyi, Mitrabhanu Satnami, Prakash Samantaray, Suprabha Panda, Har Prasad Das, and Parshuram Sahu, who recited their self-composed poems.

Finally, poet and lawyer Purnachandra Mahapatra delivered a vote of thanks to conclude the event.
