Odisha’s Aspirational Blocks Reach 40 as Keonjhar & Mayurbhanj Get 11 More

Bhubaneswar, 28th July 2025:  The NITI Aayog has officially included 11 new blocks of Odisha under the Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP), aiming to accelerate development in under-served areas.

Among these, five blocks belong to Keonjhar district, and six blocks to Mayurbhanj district:

✅ Keonjhar District:

1. Champua

2. Jhumpura

3. Keonjhar Sadar

4. Patna

5. Telkoi

✅ Mayurbhanj District:

1. Bahalda

2. Bijatala

3. Jamda

4. Kusumi

5. Rairangpur

6. Tiring

With this inclusion, the total number of Aspirational Blocks in Odisha has risen to 40.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi had earlier submitted a formal request to NITI Aayog to include these blocks under the scheme. Responding positively, NITI Aayog today issued an official notification, confirming their addition.

Under the Aspirational Block Programme, both central and state schemes are implemented in a coordinated manner, focusing on key areas such as:

  • Education
  • Health
  • Agriculture
  • Skill development
  • Basic infrastructure

This move is expected to bring faster development and better governance to the newly added blocks through targeted monitoring and funding.
