Bhubaneswar, 11th Sept 2025: The Department of Commerce and Transport, Government of Odisha, has released a draft proposal for the upcoming Odisha Vehicle Policy 2025.
Previously, under the 2021 EV Policy, a target of 20% EV adoption over 4 years was set.
Despite government incentives, only 9Percent of vehicles on the roads currently are electric.
To accelerate the transition and meet the goals, the government is introducing the Odisha Vehicle Policy 2025.
A draft has been prepared to make Odisha a model state in electric mobility across India.
Key Targets Proposed:
70Percent EV adoption by 2036
80Percent EV adoption by 2047
The policy will remain in effect until December 31, 2030, from the date of notification.
Key Recommendations:
Educational institutions are advised to adopt EVs within 12 months.
Health and Home Departments are advised to transition to EV fleets within a year.
Public Consultation:
The government has invited public feedback on the draft.
Citizens and stakeholders are encouraged to submit their opinions within 30 days.
