Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced that the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) will be implemented across the state starting April 1, 2025. This decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at the Lok Seva Bhawan.

In conjunction with AB-PMJAY, the state will also launch the Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) on the same day. The integration of these two schemes is expected to benefit approximately 3.52 crore individuals across Odisha. To mark the launch, programs will be held at all 1,438 Primary Health Centers throughout the state, and a comprehensive awareness campaign will be conducted to promote these initiatives.

Under the converged scheme, male beneficiaries will receive medical coverage up to Rs 5 lakh per annum, while female beneficiaries will be eligible for coverage up to Rs 10 lakh. Families with members aged above 70 years can avail medical benefits up to Rs 15 lakh.

This implementation follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Odisha’s Health and Family Welfare Department and the National Health Authority (NHA) on January 13, 2025, marking the state’s formal commitment to the Ayushman Bharat Yojana.

With this move, Odisha becomes the 34th state to implement the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, aiming to provide comprehensive healthcare coverage to its residents.
