Bhubaneswar,  25th Oct 2025:  Under this scheme, beneficiaries will receive 5 kg of rice per month for 3 months. The Odisha government has decided to provide 5 kg of rice per month to beneficiaries in 19 districts who were previously left out under the National and State Food Security Schemes, for a period of three months from September to November.

According to a directive issued by the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department, additional rice will be distributed over and above the 5 kg rice already provided under the National Food Security Act, Antyodaya Anna Yojana, and State Food Security Scheme.

The district collectors of these 19 districts have been instructed to procure the rice by 31st October and distribute it at fair price shops by 10th November.

With this decision, approximately 2.40 crore people from 70.47 lakh families who are partially covered will benefit, including 8.28 lakh families under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana. Each Antyodaya family, which previously received 35 kg of rice, will now receive 40 kg of rice for three months.
