Odisha Sets Ambitious Goal to Develop Like Germany, Focus on Infrastructure and Innovation

Koraput: To improve the economic condition of the state and make Odisha comparable to Germany, consultations have been held with public representatives and various stakeholders for the preparation of a vision plan. A workshop was recently organized in Koraput for drafting the “Developed India and Developed Odisha Vision Document” for the period 2036–2047. The attending representatives offered numerous suggestions.

Representatives from eight districts of Southern Revenue Division participated in the event. As per the directions of NITI Aayog, a structured plan is being formulated and efforts have started to achieve the set goals. It was discussed that malnutrition and pneumonia remain major concerns in Southern Odisha and need urgent redressal.

Key goals set include:

Increasing women’s participation from the current 70%,

Raising the average life expectancy to 80 years,

Reducing poverty rate by 5%,

Attracting investment worth ₹1 lakh crore,

Creating over 1 crore employment opportunities,

Generating 5 lakh additional jobs every year.

Focus areas include doubling fishery and animal husbandry production, boosting industries, tourism, skill development, education, women’s empowerment, and increasing electricity production sources. Discussions also highlighted increasing agricultural output, coffee cultivation, and the development of fallow lands.

Over the next 10 years, multi-level vocational training programs will be implemented to empower citizens.

The consultative workshop was held under the chairmanship of Minister Suresh Pujari. Education Minister Nityananda Gond, Mines Minister Bibhuti, MPs such as Jena from Nabarangpur, and MLAs from Koraput, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Gajapati, and Ganjam districts were present.

The event took place at the Skill Development Training Center in Koraput, with participation from senior officials such as Additional Chief Secretary Satyabrata Sahu, Southern Revenue Commissioner Ruperoshan Sahu, and District Collectors of Koraput, Nabarangpur, and Malkangiri. Eminent individuals from various sectors were also present and contributed thoughtful opinions.

Additionally, a proposal was made to take measures for the enrichment of the Odia language and tribal languages and literature.
