Malkangiri, Dec, 22: Relief materials were distributed to the affected residents of MV–26 village by the Odisha Red Cross Branch, in coordination with the district administration. Today, a special truck carrying relief supplies was dispatched from Bhubaneswar and reached MV–26 village.
Under the direct supervision of District Collector Somesh Kumar Upadhyay, the relief distribution was carried out in the presence of Additional District Collector (Revenue) Bedabar Pradhan and Chief Development Officer-cum-Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad, Naresh Chandra Sabar. Relief materials were distributed to the affected villagers of MV–26.
A total of 198 families of MV–26 village received relief assistance today. The items distributed included blankets, kitchen sets, tarpaulins, sarees, gamuchhas, lungis, buckets, mugs, jerry cans, and clothing for children aged 2 to 30 years.
The Korkunda BDO and District Emergency Officer Muna Turuk were present and supervised the entire relief distribution process. Members of the District Red Cross Branch also assisted in distributing the materials.
Earlier, the district administration had already provided the affected families with blankets, sarees, lungis, gamuchhas, bedding, and polythene sheets. Cooked food was also supplied to all residents today.
Additionally, the RAF (Rapid Action Force) conducted a flag march in MV–26 village. Peace has now been restored, and villagers have returned to their homes.
Today, Lok Sabha MP Balabhadra Majhi visited Malkangiri. At the Circuit House, in the presence of the District Collector and the Superintendent of Police, the MP held separate discussions with representatives of the Adivasi community and the Bengali community.
Considering the current situation, the district administration has suspended paddy procurement for seven days. The District Collector informed that paddy procurement in the district will resume from December 24.
