Koraput, 12th Nov 2025: A statewide awareness march (“Maha Padayatra”) was launched today from Kunduli, under Semiliguda block of Koraput district. The march has been organized by the Lok Bikash Manch, Koraput, under the banner of the Agami Trust, with support from Asunkti Trust, MDOPPA, and Mahila Shramajibini Rath – Odisha.
The main objectives of this “Odisha Maha Padayatra for Our Rights” are to promote employment generation, cultural preservation, organic farming practices, and environmental protection. The campaign was joined by youth scholar and social activist Shri Haresh Hantal and youth leader Shri Bandhu Pujari, who inspired the public to adopt an organic lifestyle and work toward building a healthy and sustainable environment.
The core goal of the march is to reduce the increasing trend of migration and bonded labor in tribal-dominated regions, improve village-level small industries, create employment opportunities for local youth, and motivate people to follow organic and sustainable agricultural practices for better health and a cleaner environment.
Considering the rising issue of deforestation and ecological imbalance, the march also includes tree plantation drives and awareness campaigns to promote a green and safe environment.
The Odisha Statewide Maha Padayatra officially began on October 9, 2025, from Padiya block, Malkangiri, and will cover all blocks, NACs, and municipal areas across the state.
During the launch meeting, educator Haresh Hantal said that most people in the tribal areas of Koraput district depend on farming and labor work for their livelihood. He emphasized that local youths have wholeheartedly supported the campaign and shown great enthusiasm for social and environmental awareness.
According to the organizers, the march will continue across all blocks and municipal areas of Koraput district, spreading the message of sustainable livelihood, organic farming, and environmental protection. The Lok Bikash Manch, Koraput, stated that the organization is committed to playing an active role in this public awareness movement in the coming days.
