Karanjia, 9th Sept 2025: A delegation from the Odisha Kudumi Sena, along with over a hundred leaders and members, met Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan at his official residence in Delhi to submit a charter of demands.
In the presence of Rajya Sabha MP Mamata Mohanta, the delegation included several prominent figures from the organization such as:
Pratibha Mahanta – State Women’s Wing Leader
Lalmohan Mahanta – State Secretary
Taranisen Mahanta – District Secretary
Mamata Mahanta, Sabita Mahanta, Virendra Mahanta
Amit Pramar Mahato – President, Delhi Kudumi Society
The Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan assured the delegation that a Kudmali language department would be opened very soon at North Odisha University, fulfilling one of their key demands.

Ongoing Demand for Tribal Recognition:
Along with the academic demands, the Odisha Kudumi Sena reaffirmed their core demand:
> Until the Kudumi community is granted tribal (Adivasi) status again, the Kudumi Sena will not remain silent, the leaders declared.
