Bhubaneswar, 7th Aug 2025: The Odisha Government has announced a major initiative to monitor the health of students residing in hostels across the state. School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond informed that all hostel-based students will be issued Digital Health Cards.
These cards will help the government track and record the health status of each student in real time. The move is aimed at ensuring better healthcare, early diagnosis, and timely medical support for children staying in hostels under various welfare and educational schemes.
Minister Gond said the scheme would be implemented in a phased manner, covering all hostels run by departments like SC & ST Welfare, School and Mass Education, and Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.
Through the digital health cards, health records of each student — including medical history, immunization status, and routine check-ups — will be digitally stored and updated, allowing authorities to take quick and informed decisions in case of any health emergencies.
The initiative is part of the state’s broader focus on digital transformation in education and healthcare delivery.
