Odisha Govt Initiates Measures to Curb Dadan System

Bhubaneswar, 1st Sept 2025: In a recent meeting chaired by Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister, it was decided that a specialized team will be deployed to states where the Dadan system (a form of bonded labor) is still prevalent. This initiative aims to put an end to this exploitative practice by coordinating with the concerned state governments.

Key Decisions Taken:

  • Team Deployment: A dedicated team from Odisha will visit the states where Dadan continues to persist, in an effort to address the situation.
  • Consultation with Other States: Odisha’s government will engage in discussions with other state authorities to understand the root causes of the issue and work on effective solutions.
  • Decrease in Dadan Numbers: While the number of Dadan cases has reduced compared to previous years, the state government is determined to eliminate it entirely.
  • The state is working relentlessly to eradicate this issue, focusing on improving enforcement and support systems for vulnerable communities.
