Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government Implements Odisha Civil Services 1990 Rules; Family Members of Deceased Government Employees to Get Jobs

Key Highlights:

1. The Odisha Civil Services (Compassionate Appointment) Rules, 1990 have been reintroduced.

2. Family members of deceased government employees will be eligible for government jobs.

3. Earlier, under the 1990 rules, jobs were provided for Group C and Group D positions.

4. In 2020, the previous government introduced the “Marking System” for compassionate appointments.

5. Now, the government has revoked the 2020 system and reinstated the 1990 rules for compassionate appointments.

6. This decision was announced during the Cabinet meeting on Thursday.

This move is expected to benefit families of deceased government employees by ensuring job security for their dependents.
