Bhubaneswar: Now, students of 9th and 10th grades will also receive mid-day meals. The state government will soon arrange this in all government high schools. Not just that, the cooking cost per student for the mid-day meal will be increased by ₹1. This important announcement was made by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday.
Over 10 Lakh Students to Benefit
Previously, the mid-day meal was provided only to students from Class 1 to 8. The Chief Minister mentioned that for many years, there was a noticeable disparity within school campuses. While students from Class 1 to 8 were eating nutritious cooked meals on the same campus, students of Classes 9 and 10 were left out. Some of them had to bring food from home, some bought food with their own money, and others had to go back home to eat, which wasted both time and money. The Chief Minister assured that this issue will no longer exist.
The Chief Minister made this announcement while attending the centenary celebration of Ranihat High School in Cuttack as the chief guest. The proposal will soon receive cabinet approval.
