Nabarangpur: Odisha Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja paid a one-day visit to Nabarangpur district and reviewed several ongoing developmental projects. He was accompanied by District Collector Dr. Subhankar Mahapatra, Chief District Development Officer Biranchi Narayan Darwan, Sub-Collector Prakash Kumar Mishra, and various departmental officers.
Starting at 9:00 AM, he visited the mega lift irrigation project at Dahibhatta and interacted with beneficiaries of the Chief Minister’s Tribal Livelihood Mission who cultivated maize, chickpeas, and sunflowers during the Rabi season. Discussions were held regarding production and market linkages. He also interacted with tribal micro-entrepreneurs engaged in activities like running garages, tiffin stalls, and operating power tillers. Farmers expressed the need for a dedicated market hub to sell their produce.
Later, he visited a fish seed production center worth approximately Rs 50 lakh at Tara village, managed by beneficiary Imran Khan, and a dairy unit producing and selling 600 liters of milk per day with 75 cows and buffaloes, run by Irfan Khan. The Chief Secretary advised encouraging other entrepreneurs to establish such units and to allow livestock trainees to visit the centers for exposure.
He then visited the Eklavya Model Residential School in Semala and interacted with women from the Matrushakti Producer Enterprises on aspects of production, sales, and market systems. He also conversed with maize farmers about their challenges and support systems.
In Baksaguda, he inspected a cashew plantation under the MGNREGA scheme. At Farshaguda, he visited the Alphabet Garden developed by the Forest Department. Further visits included the water purification center at Ukiapali under Kosagumuda block, Mission Shakti Café, and interactions with beneficiaries of the Subhadra Yojana.
At Sanmasi village in Nabarangpur block, he visited the Handloom Cluster and later toured the food processing center at the RMC campus. During the inspections, key departmental officials including PA ITDA, CDVO, DWO, DFO, Assistant CEO ORMAS, Executive Engineers from Mega Lift and RWSS, BDOs of Kosagumuda/Papadahandi, DPC Mission Shakti, DD Textiles, Deputy Director, and Jalachhaya Project officials were present.
