Bhubaneswar: In a Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mohan Chandra Majhi at the Secretariat, 8 proposals from 5 departments have been approved. After the meeting, the Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja informed the media that three proposals from the Health and Family Welfare Department, aimed at eliminating regulatory errors and inconsistencies, were approved by the state Cabinet. These changes are related to the family pension scheme for widows, divorcees, and disabled persons above the age of 25, which was revised in 2011. The Odisha Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 1992, are also being amended.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved several proposals, including:
Rs. 1000 crore for the Chief Minister’s Bus Service (86 routes) and road infrastructure development.
Rs. 2459 crore for healthcare services and Rs. 5174 crore for cleanliness initiatives.
Proposals for veterinary care services and animal husbandry, and the creation of 113 new positions in the Odisha Animal Health Care and Veterinary Services cadre, increasing the strength from 4045 to 4158 posts.
The state government also approved the second phase of the Nirmal Yojana (cleanliness project) for the improvement of government hospitals, with a budget allocation of Rs. 5174.79 crore for the next five years. An additional Rs. 20.87 crore will be spent on the operation of all health institutions.
The Cabinet also approved the creation of new positions for health professionals in the state’s veterinary services. A decision was made to modernize and streamline the Chief Minister’s Bus Service to provide better safety and amenities, with 50% fare concessions for women, third-gender people, students, disabled individuals, and senior citizens. The Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) will be responsible for this revamped service.
