Bhubaneswar, 1st Aug 2025: This year, unjustified delays have been reported in Odisha’s online teacher transfer process, especially in mutual transfers. Although it has been 15 days since the SLTC (State Level Transfer Committee) meeting, no transfer orders have been issued yet.
Traditionally, mutual transfer orders were released on the same day as the SLTC meeting, but this year has seen an unusual deviation. Even though the files have been cleared and submitted to senior departmental officials, the orders are stuck awaiting top-level approval, leading to mounting frustration among teachers.
As per the official calendar, transfers were to be completed between July 1 and 7, with teachers joining their new postings shortly afterward. However, with the month ending and no action from the government, teachers have questioned the government’s commitment to its own policies.
Repeated representations to the School and Mass Education Minister have yielded no results, the NPS Secondary Teachers’ Association alleges. Teachers are also uncertain about when transfers on other grounds (like medical or personal hardship) will take place if even mutual transfers face such a delay.
This situation has left many teachers in a state of mental distress, affecting their ability to focus on their teaching duties.
In response, the Association has issued a strong warning:
If transfer orders are not published within this week, the NPS Secondary Teachers’ Association will gherao the residence of the School and Mass Education Minister next week, announced Association President Pradipta Kumar Pradhan.
