Nor’wester Havoc: Falling Trees Snap 8 Electric Poles

Nandapur: The power supply in the Nandapur block region has been disrupted due to a nor’wester storm. Several trees fell on electric wires passing along the village hillsides, breaking eight electric poles.

As a result, villages like Kandhaguda and Sarbati under Nandapur Panchayat, and Charengba and Bariapakhana under Kasadi Panchayat, have plunged into darkness. Similarly, in Malibelgaon Panchayat, areas like Tankua and Sidaput near forested regions have also seen power supply disruptions due to fallen trees on power lines.

Staff from the Nandapur TPCODL (TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited) office have cut and removed the fallen trees. The broken electric poles are being replaced. According to engineer Prabhu Mallik, new poles will be installed, and electricity supply will be restored to normal by Saturday.
