Nikhil from Borigumma Makes Notable Visit to ISRO

Borigumma: Young science talent Nikhil Mahapatra, a meritorious student identified under the Youth Jyoti Science Talent Search, along with science teacher Gauri Shankar Samantaray, visited the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Bengaluru.

The educational visit was facilitated through the joint initiative of Tata Steel, the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Odisha, and the Pathani Samanta Planetarium, Bhubaneswar.

As part of the visit, the duo toured the ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) and the U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC). They witnessed first-hand the systems involved in real-time satellite command and tracking operations, which were extensively demonstrated by ISRO scientists.

The educational trip was held from May 24 to 28. Nikhil Mahapatra was selected among approximately 71,000 students who had participated in the talent search program. His project was guided by science teacher Gauri Shankar Samantaray.
