New Delhi, Jan, 03:  In a Cabinet Committee meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approval has been given for the widening and upgrading of National Highway 326 (NH-326). The total project cost is Rs1,526.21 crore, of which Rs996.76 crore will be spent on construction. The existing 68.600 km to 311.700 km section of NH-326 will be upgraded with paved shoulders.

Prime Minister Modi expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, and other officials for approving the project. The highway upgrade will particularly benefit the remote, interior, and tribal-dominated areas of southern Odisha.

The project cost is Rs 1,526.21 crore, and the development of all-weather road connectivity will:
Accelerate economic activities
Improve access to education, healthcare, markets, and employment opportunities for local residents
