Balimela, 25th Oct 2025: A new “Shishumitra” (Child-Friendly) police station was inaugurated today at Orakel Police Station under Balimela town, Malkangiri district. The inauguration was done by Malkangiri District Police Superintendent, Vinod Patil, who cut the ribbon following traditional rituals and prayers.
On this occasion, students from local Anganwadi centers and Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir participated in the program. According to reports, the main objective of this Shishumitra police station is to provide a safe and child-friendly space for mothers who come to the police station with their young children to file complaints. The facility ensures that the children’s needs—feeding, studying, playing, and nutrition—are fully taken care of.
Mothers also have access to facilities for breastfeeding, and a children’s play area has been set up so that the children can enjoy their time without discomfort.
During the construction of the new police station, contributions of ASI and Homeguard personnel were recognized, and SP Vinod Patil honored them with certificates and cash awards. In addition, the SP discussed local issues with senior citizens of the area. Some students were given biscuits and chocolates as part of the inauguration ceremony.
The ceremony was attended by Additional SP Rashmi Ranjan Senapati, ADPO Pradosh Pradhan of Chitrakonda, RI Satyapriya Bishwal, Officer-in-Charge Dhiren Pattnayak, SI Harpriya Shabar, Milan Bariha, Ajit Singh Bariha, Manohar Bastu, and all staff of Orakel Police Station.
