Nabarangpur: One year has passed, with many achievements. Development in the industry and agriculture sectors is underway in Nabarangpur district, with special focus on irrigation. Alongside the development of sports infrastructure, emphasis will be placed on tourism-based growth. A medical college will be established in Nabarangpur, announced Minister of Steel, Mines, Commerce, and Transport Bibhuti Bhushan Jena during a press meet at the local Circuit House on Saturday.
The minister said Odisha is progressing toward building a Prosperous Odisha by 2036 and a Developed India by 2047. The vision is to ensure holistic development of the state, including tribal empowerment. He emphasized that realizing this dream requires the cooperation of every Odia citizen.
He further stated that the government has proven capable of fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of 4.5 crore people. All government schemes and programs are being designed keeping the poor, farmers, women, and youth in focus. This year’s budget includes:
A record Rs 89,861 crore provision for women
Rs 68,881 crore for the development of tribal and scheduled caste communities
Age limit for government job aspirants increased to 42 years
11.25 Percent reservation in higher education for backward classes
The minister said all this was made possible with the blessings of Lord Jagannath and Maa Bhandargharani.
The BJP government, under the leadership of Mohan Charan Majhi, was formed in Odisha on June 12, 2024, and one year has now passed. Within this short span, development efforts have accelerated across the state.
Nabarangpur is known for its cultural richness, literature, valor, and pride. The Papadahandi massacre on August 24, 1942, in which 19 freedom fighters were martyred near the Turi River, is a shining example of the district’s legacy of sacrifice.
The state government continues efforts to provide people in the district with basic facilities such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and transport. A major economic corridor, the Raipur–Visakhapatnam (Bharatmala) project, will soon be inaugurated.
As a milestone in the health sector, a medical college is set to be established in Nabarangpur. The Jaypur–Nabarangpur railway project and the Nabarangpur bypass road are also expected to be completed soon.
The minister stated that through 14 producer groups under the Mukhyamantri Maka Mission, business worth ₹32 crore has already been conducted.
Minister of School and Mass Education, Nityananda Gond, spoke about improvement in transportation, eco-tourism in Umerkote, Godavaris schools in every panchayat, and the expansion of educational opportunities in the district.
